How to clone specific courses or content
Cloning is a tool for optimizing time. This feature allows copying courses and units within the Virtual Learning Environment.
To clone a course:
1. Access your platform as an instructor;
2. On the home page, click on Courses (1), on the right side of the screen;
3. Locate the course you want to clone, hover over the three-dot icon in the Settings column and click the clone icon (2);
4. A confirmation dialog will appear, click Clone;
The course is now cloned and added to your course list.
It is automatically named after the original course name, with the (clone) indication in front. It is a replica of the original course, copying all configurations, units and materials from the original. But from now on, it can be customized and managed as an entirely separate course.
To clone content, there are two options.
The first is to clone content from another course:
1. As an instructor in your platform, on the home page, click on the course you want to edit;
2. Click Add (1) and select the option Clone from another course (2);
3. From the drop-down menu, select the course you want to copy the drive from, beside, select the original content that will be copied;
4. Then click Clone.
Cloned content has been added to your course.
It is automatically named after the original unit name, with the (clone) indication in front. You can edit it without affecting the original.
The second option is to link a unit from another course:
1. As an instructor in your platform, on the home page, click on the course you want to edit;
2. Click on Add and select the option Link to another course (3);
3. From the drop-down menu, select the course from which you want to link the unit, beside, select the original unit that will be linked;
4. Then click Link.
The linked unit has been added to your course, with the same name as the original unit and with the link icon in front, indicating that it is linked from another course.
The main difference is that when you link a drive, changes made to the original drive are also applied to the copied drives.
Note: Four types of units cannot be linked: tests, surveys, assignments, and instructor-led training.
